Common Goals Launches!

Monday 11th June

Last week No Guts No Glory rather excitedly launched Common Goals, a charity based not-for-profit project that works with UK Punk Rock bands to raise money for various causes through the sale of exclusive t-shirts!

Last year our good friend (and brilliant stop-motion animator) Jack Hyde got in touch and asked if we fancied working with him on an idea that he’d had. We were really keen to be involved and after many tea-fuelled planning sessions, and a little help from the good people around us, we’re finally here…

A not-for-profit venture, Common Goals aims to raise money and awareness for a range of charities through the sell of hand printed Organic T-Shirts that are designed exclusively by UK based Punk Rock bands!

The first t-shirt designs are brought to you courtesy of The Arteries and Great Cynics, raising money for both Mumbles Lifeboat Station in Swansea (The Arteries home town) and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Common Goals also launched our own logo design – of which all proceeds will go towards printing the shirts of the next band!

The Arteries brilliant 'Pirate' t-shirt was designed by bassist Jamie, whose design work can be seen on the CD sleeves and shirts of countless bands around the UK (and beyond!).

For their charity The Arteries have chosen the Mumbles Lifeboat Station in Swansea. The station has a remarkable history of bravery for over 170 years and its crews have been presented with 33 awards for gallantry. The crews of the lifeboats are almost entirely volunteers.

This awesome ‘brain in a jar’ T-shirt was designed by Iona Cairns, bassist in Great Cynics.

The band have nominated the Motor Neurone Disease Accociation as their selected charity. They are the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that funds and promotes global research into the disease and provides support for people affected by MND.

common goals

The Common Goals shirt is an integral part of the project as all the profits from this shirt go towards paying for the printing of the next band design. So once we sell enough CG shirts we can ask a new band to design a shirt for us! Big thanks to Jamie Morrison for working ith us to design such a great logo for the project.

So how does Common Goals work?
We sell each of these awesome T-shirts for £15, donating 100% of all proceeds directly to the charity nominated by each particular band! So that’s £10 from each sale to charity, and £5 to pay for us to reprint the design. The T-Shirts aren’t limited (although we may decide to mix up the colours sometimes), so we can continue to raise as much money as we can for the selected charities!
With the Common Goals own logo shirt we again take £5 to cover the cost of the shirt & printing but the remaining £10 goes towards paying for the printing of the next band design. So once we sell enough of these we can ask a new band to design a shirt for us. Simple.

Please check out our blogsite to find out more about the project, and help us to spread the word via Facebook, Twitter and the like!

Oh, we'd also like to say a big thanks to the great guys at Punktastic for writing a little bit about the project - thanks so much for the support :)

Peace,

Nath and Hayley.
